End Period Poverty

Project Video

EEY & BAY4J collaboration

Mission

Due to the lack of access to menstrual products or financial situations, millions of women around the world sacrifice their education due to menstruation. Without proper products, women are forced to use socks, rags, and newspapers during their menstrual cycle. The use of such alternatives makes these women vulnerable to serious health risks such as Toxic Shock Syndrome and cervical cancer. Many girls from low-income families skip school for up to a week every month because they can’t afford proper sanitary products. Furthermore, talking about your period is considered taboo in many places around the world which causes girls to feel embarrassed and unprepared for their periods.

Fremont High School’s EEY and BAY4J want to help solve this problem. EEY is a non-profit organization that is passionate about empowering women by respecting their right to sanitation. It is our mission to increase access to menstrual hygiene products through multiple fundraisers for these women. We strive to normalize conservations about female hygiene and educate youth about the imperative need to further female education globally.

Bay Area Youth for Justice (BAY4J) is a community youth organization dedicated to speaking out against the injustices in our world today by giving our members a safe and welcoming platform to voice their opinions.

Every dollar donated goes directly towards helping the women that can’t afford or access menstrual products. With your donations, the Fremont EEY team will buy and deliver sanitary items to multiple shelters. We are grateful for any contribution no matter how big or small!
